The 2012 Big Lake Ice Out contest is now over, after a very early start to spring and a fairly mild winter. Despite a late and large snowfall - 20 inches in late February, ice went out very early. I suspect it would be the earliest on anyone's record.
This year's ice out contest winner is someone who chose March 22nd. The ice went out on March 21, 2012.
